Festival Technical Crew – Job Description
Our 21 venues become home to approximately 60 technicians for the duration of the Edinburgh festival. Each forms part of the backbone that makes Pleasance what it is every year.
With every venue showing 9 shows daily and sometimes as little as 15 minutes in between each performance you must be able to work efficiently in a highly demanding environment. You must be able to cope well under pressure, be extremely self motivated as well as a strong team player, endure full working days and all of this of course, with an enthusiastic and positive attitude and a smile on your face. Over the past 26 years, Pleasance Theatre has achieved an outstanding reputation for not only delivering the highest quality of work, but for also being the friendliest, most supportive venue on the Fringe. We can only maintain this by employing the best of the best.
We are willing to consider all levels of technical knowledge and ability and have vacancies in all departments and fields of specialism. Each crew member will be assigned to a venue where they will work within the same team of people and venue manager for the duration of the fringe, once the festival gets underway the venue will develop a crew rota allowing a bit of free time to catch up on sleep, eat or see shows. However, bear in mind that this is the best case scenario and applicants should expect to work 7 days per week.
