Poetry at the Dome

Bucket of Inspiration

There's a daily poetry competition at the Pleasance Dome! Come and have fun exploring what's in the 'Buckets of Inspiration' that are placed randomly on tables in the Soul Food Shack area. Pens, paper, blu tac and post-it notes are available for your use. There are even ideas for games and ideas to pass the time. Each day we have a 'Topic of the Day'. Compose your poem and write your name and either email or mobile number on the back. Put it up on the board, or leave it in a bucket and you could win two bowls of Soul Food from Momma Cherri's Soul Food Shack. We particularly welcome entries that are 'poetic' - a poetic doodle, a poetic picture, a poetic dingbat, a poetic piece of folded paper or a poetic collage or a poetic recipe are all acceptable. Rhyme is not compulsory. The winner will be notified by text or email. Vouchers can be collected from the staff taking orders at the till at Momma Cherri's Soul Food Shack the next day (on the left, near the bar).

Update: Weds 23 Aug: The Poetry Competition Lives On!

Even though Leon Conrad has returned to London, the success of the Pleasance Poetry Competition lives on with John Hegley taking up the mantle of judging the competition until the end of the festival.

Come to the Pleasance Dome and be inspired to enter a poetic picture, puzzle, or poem - haiku, sonnet, or limerick - in our daily poetry competition. You never know - you could join our other prizewinners each of whom has won 2 free bowls of Soul Food from Momma Cherri's Soul Food Shack at the Pleasance Dome.
