2 new venues,100 world premieres & food to spice up your life
The Pleasance launches 2007 Fringe programme
With over 180 shows in 20 venues, The Pleasance once again makes its mark as one of the biggest and most diverse venues at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Out of 55 theatre shows, more than half are eligible for The Scotsman's Fringe First Awards recognising the best new writing on the Fringe and combined with 114 comedy shows, 5 music performances and 10 kid's productions, over 100 are world premieres. Following on from the success of the launch last year, of our 2 new venues the Baby Grand at the Pleasance Courtyard and 10Dome at the Pleasance Dome continue to showcase our hard hitting theatre programme.
In keeping with Fringe tradition, political, social and satirical themes abound, as the Pleasance embraces its vital role as a catalyst for productions reflecting today’s hot topics. Pioneering physical theatre, dance and music also make a strong appearance alongside the now customary star names in comedy that have become synonomous with the Pleasance. Throughout it all, there remains a guiding principle – to extensively showcase new work and innovative young talent, while continuing to support and foster longterm relationships with performers and companies, as they gain their footing in the biggest arts showcase in the world.

New writing, hot topics & enduring worldclass acts
The Pleasance continues to strive to showcase the very best new work and lesserknown acts while also nurturing those who have gained recognition since their first Pleasance outing. It is a longterm commitment to supporting artists and companies from when they are an unknown quantity to firmly established acts. The big star names speak for themselves, but equally play their part in ensuring that the Pleasance is recognised as the most diverse and comprehensive talent showcase of the Festival.
