Tartan Ribbon Comedy Benefit 2006

Tartan Ribbon 2006 FlierAnd so here we are, ears still ringing, after another stupendously wonderful Tartan Ribbon Comedy Benefit 2006. The Pleasance has been supporting Waverley Care - supporting people living in Scotland with HIV since 1992, and last year we managed to make more money than ever
before!

Leading the furor was the mercifully brief Mike McShane. Taking a break from his role in 'Marlon Brando's Corset' he introduced the acts with a song and a dance. Next up was Rhod Gilbert telling the perils of what it's like traveling abroad from Wales, leading swiftly into Lucy Porter and how she looks for the good in all people; including Osama Bin Laden.

Jason Byrne had a rant about his wife (which he would, of course, not have done had she been there), The 4 Poofs and a Piano battled the questions of growing old with their wonderful blend of unique cabaret; God's Pottery taught us how to find a fresh start with Jesus Christ and Zoo Nation held the stage with some awesome hip hop dancing.

So if you were there, well flippin' done. If you were not, you lost out. I'm sorry. You could, however, redeem yourself by finding a bucket (with Waverley Care on of course! doh) and emptying your pockets to give generously. If you're not sure where to find said bucket, and are worried about leaving money in an unmarked bucket, please ask a member of staff with a glittery (slightly disco) Pleasance logo on it.

Oh, nearly forgot, if you did miss this humungous event, you can try and scrabble back into our good books by booking tickets for Laura Solon's Perrier award winning show which is on in Pleasance Beyond at 15:30 on Sat 26th. Yikes!
