Produced every day of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Pleasance Times contains features, interviews, anecdotes, stories, poetry, puzzles, articles, news, photos and more.
Every issue is distributed throughout the Pleasance, whilst a digital version is made available online.
In 2012, Pleasance is eager to grow the Pleasance Times to become an even bigger, more exciting and interactive publication. In order to do this we are looking to employ a volunteer Pleasance Times Editor and Assistant Editor. We are open to your ideas of how this already successful publication can grow. If you have an editorial, journalism, design background or are just creative and think you can bring a new eye to either role, please apply.
The Pleasance Times Editor must:
- Have experience writing copy for print and online media
- Have experience generating ideas for features
- Have a keen eye for detail and sharp editing skills with experience proof reading to detect errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax
- Have the ability to plan content according to the publication's style
- Have the ability to allocate print space for text and photos according to space parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles
- Proven experience meeting tight deadlines in a high pressure environment
- Ability to manage a small team
- Design experience and working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop
The Pleasance Times Assistant Editor must:
- Have experience writing copy for print and online media
- Have a keen eye for detail and sharp editing skills with experience proof reading to detect errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax
- Be a confident go-getter who is willing to gather content, arrange interviews, and take photographs
- Proven experience meeting tight deadlines in a high pressure environment
- Design experience and working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is desirable but not essential.
