The Tuborg Musical Comedy Awards is a long overdue celebration for the genre, showcasing some of the best emerging and established musical comedians of our time.

After close to 150 entries in two months at www.musicalcomedy.co.uk, judges Tim Arthur from Time Out, Ryan Taylor from the Pleasance, Joanna Neary, Doctor Coca Cola Mcdonalds and Ed Chappel of Avin a Larf selected a final shortlist of twenty artists, which can be viewed in the featured section on the website.

From that shortlist, the judges have now selected the five finalists who will play on April 11th at the Tuborg Musical Comedy Awards.

The five finalists are:

ADAMS AND REA - "Much salacious booty-shaking..musically astute and gleefully non-PC, they deserve a bigger stage" - Scotland on Sunday

DUNCAN OAKLEY - "The naughtiest, zaniest kid at school fused with the comic brilliance of Norman Wisdom" - Scarborough Today

FRISKY AND MANNISH - "White-hot one's to watch" - Time Out Critics Choice 2008/9

HOWARD READ - "I defy you not to be helplessly charmed" - The Telegraph

MR B THE GENTLEMAN RHYMER - "Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer's 'chap-hop' ("reconnecting rap with the Queen's English") was note-perfect" - The Telegraph

The night will be MC'd by London Cabaret Star DES O' CONNOR, and alongside the finalists there will also be performances from established musical comedy stars such as:

ISY SUTTIE - (Best Female Newcomer Nominee for British Comedy Awards 2008)

JO NEARY (Perrier Nominee 2005)

DOKTOR COCA COLA MCDONALDS (Malcolm Hardee Award Winner 2008)

EARL OKIN (jazz legend and international sex symbol)
