Perform With Us

We strive to present a rich and varied programme of quality work at the Pleasance Islington, with a particular emphasis on the new and untried.

We have two theatres at Pleasance Islington: the Main House seating 288 and a studio venue, the StageSpace, seating 54. Details of both spaces (including hire fees) can be found in the technical section of the website.

In the Main House we present a varied programme of quality new writing and new work, children's theatre and the best in touring productions - not to mention regular performances by some of the biggest names in comedy! Companies such as Theatre de L'Ange Fou, Lightwork Image Performance, Unicorn Theatre for Children, The Happy Gang, Tall Stories, The Cornish Theatre Collective and performers such as Bill Bailey, Harry Hill and The Mighty Boosh have all performed with us in the 2004/2005 season.

The StageSpace was inaugurated in October 2002 with the aim of providing an affordable platform for the talent of the future. For this reason we try to have as open a programming policy as possible! The vast majority of the work is original and some truly exciting new writing and new work has emerged - not least New Strung Theatre's The Wrong Man, which transferred from the StageSpace to the Main House and then on to Edinburgh. The StageSpace has proved hugely popular and can get booked up several months in advance. It is available for runs of a few days up to three weeks.

If you would like to perform with us at the Pleasance Islington we will need you to provide us with the following information:

  • The show you're proposing - treatment or synopsis/script or video/DVD if possible
  • A bit about your company - who you are/why this show and review pack if possible
  • The dates you're looking for
  • The length of run you're looking for
  • Which theatre you're interested in
  • The (estimated) running time of the show
  • The (estimated) size of the cast
  • Technical requirements (as known/anticipated)

Once we received this material from you we will see what the possibilities are and get back in touch with you.

Should you wish to find out more or to tell us about your show please contact Emma Bettridge (Programme Coordinator) - emma@pleasance.co.uk or 020 7619 6868.

Please note that the Pleasance Theatre Trust is an unfunded charity and we are rarely able to operate as a producing house - as such we are not currently considering proposals based on the Pleasance acting as sole or co-producer.
