20. Thom Tuck, James Acaster, Matthew Crosby and Nick Helm Part 2 - Pleasance Comedy Podcast 2012
At the end of the 2012 comedy festival, Thom Tuck invited fellow comedians Matthew Crosby, James Acaster and Nick Helm down to the Pleasance Courtyard for a coffee and a discussion about masculinity in comedy.
Unfortunately Nick couldn't make it to the interview at the same time as everyone else; and so a cunning plan was hatched. Thom would simply interview Nick separately and then edit in his bits with the rest of the tapes.
It didn't work.
But rather than admit defeat, we've decided to publish both interviews on their own - they are both very interesting plus there's stand up from each comedian we'd love you to hear too. This two part podcast has more internal references than Back to the Future Part II and will be debated in internet forums for years to come.
Last week's podcast featured Thom interviewing Matthew and James, you can listen to it below, and now at long last now you can hear Nick Helm with Thom, completing the circle of masculinity.

NEW: Shaun Keaveny Xmas Pleasance Comedy Podcast, with Brendon Burns, Paul Tonkinson and Marcel Lucont.
After the glory of five Edinburgh shows called "The 40 Year Old Edinburgh Virgin", Shaun Keaveny returns to the Pleasance with a swagger, an attitude and another excellent show.
"Live and Langourous" is Shaun's chance to play guitar to people locked in a room, to invite friends and interesting characters down for a chat and to spread his comedy wings a little further than his day job normally lets him.
On this show Paul Tonkinson is definitely not an Olympic Medallist, Brendon Burns definitely isn't deaf and Marcel Lucont is tres French and that. With personal danger, chedder cheese and a surprise guest percussionist: it's the Pleasance Comedy podcast with Shaun Keaveny.

18. The Comedy Reserve, featuring Suzy Bennett, Matt Rees, Chris Turner and John Kearns - Pleasance Comedy Podcast 2012
Each and every year at the Edinburgh Festival the Pleasance use the very special Charlie Hartill fund to produce and finance the Comedy Reserve to help fledgling comedians get ahead in the industry.
Previous comedians to come through the Comedy Reserve include Jack Whitehall, Holly Walsh, Pippa Evans and Simon Brodkin.
The 2012 cast is just as good, featuring Chris Turner, John Kearns, Matt Rees and Suzy Bennett with stories of being chased by Arthur Smith, being the new Vic and Bob and the unmissable Coronation St episodes.

17. Tom Deacon and Wittank - Pleasance Comedy Podcast 2012
This week the nicest man in the world herds cats in the Terrace Bar in the Pleasance - or to be more accurate Radio 1's Tom Deacon has a friendly chat with sketch group Wittank. This podcast brings together four of the sharpest and funniest young comedians on the scene at the moment.
There's stand up from Tom and one of Wittank's classic sketches "Were-Twat" which sees the group having to control a tragic soul lost to the world of popped collars, chinos and the dreaded 'banter'.
There's five people crowded around the table, yet one of them refuses to speak and definitely isn't in this podcast. He may get referred to, but he's definitely not in the podcast.
Definitely.

16. Suzi Ruffell and Josh Widdicombe - Pleasance Comedy Podcast 2012
For the next ten weeks the Pleasance is taking a look back at the comedians that played the Edinburgh Festival in 2012.
In this podcast we hear from Suzi Ruffell as she interviews her comedy chum Josh Widdicombe about his time at the Fringe, the Olympics and the superstar lifestyle that he has become accustomed to.
There's stand up from Suzi and Josh, and what better way to escape the autumnal rain than a ray of sunshine from the Courtyard. Recorded in August 2012.

The Best Of Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast 2012.
2012 has been sunny, fast paced and bulging with a huge variety of comedy with something there for everyone. With so many comedians coming to the Pleasance from spiritual medium Ian D Montfort to the cheeky chappy Rob Beckett; the rampant Nick Helm and the elegant Shappi Khorsandi, we couldn’t possibly cram them all in, but here are some of our highlights.
Eddie Izzard introduces us to Trevor Noah and Michael Mittermeier two of this year’s biggest international hits at the Fringe.
Shaun Keaveny had his Fringe cherry popped and hosted the podcast during the first week of the festival; over the course of his five shows Shaun was joined by many guests including Sarah Kendall and Carl Donnelly.
There are little moments of joy with Seann Walsh and Elis James impersonating some of the biggest comedy stars in Britain as well as international rockstars Dead Cat Bounce and Axis of Awesome knocking lumps out of each other.
Once again, Mike McShane takes us by the hand and skips us gayly through the Best of 2012…

15. Stuart Goldsmith with Alfie Moore and Maxwell Golden - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast 2012
One's a ex-street performer and one's still a policeman officer, yet some how we still like them both.
Stuart Goldsmith is in his eighteenth year at the Edinburgh Fringe whilst his guest on the comedy podcast is a relative newcomer with just three years under Alfie Moore's belt, but with celebrity endorsements and the threat of arrest they've become firm friends.
In this podcast you'll hear about severed heads, lesbians on a stag night, David Mitchell, pickup techniques, the London riots and a bit of chewing gum being picked out of Stuart's eye.
A cracking wee podcast as we approach the end of the festival, also featuring Jarred Christmas and Maxwell Golden, writer and director of CountryBoy's Struggle, a hip-hop journey from the southwest of England to the bright lights of London.

14. Matthew Crosby with David Trent, Pappy's and Winston Churchill - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast 2012

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is not about awards, accolades, star ratings or even reviews. It's about art, performance, creation, celebrating and losing vital musical instruments.
Matthew Crosby takes over the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast and does so in fine style. It's a packed show and the longest the podcast has even been, so get comfortable on your commute and get ready to hear from David Trent (Nominated for Best Newcomer), Matthew's fellow members of Pappy's Ben Clark and Tom Parry (Nominated for Best Comedy Show) and Freddie Machin (Not nominated for anything but a lovely chap - doing a play called Winston on the Run. Google it for regional dates).
Hear the pain, the tragedy and heartbreak of Tom Parry; hear the love, care and hopefulness of Ben Clark; hear the puns and naps of David Trent and here the podcast:

Pleasance Podcast Special - Tartan Ribbon Benefit Gig 2012
The Pleasance has been supporting Waverley Care, Scotland's leading HIV and Hepatitis C charity for twenty one years. Whether it be selling ribbons in the Courtyard or raising awareness online, the Pleasance is proud to be partnered with a charity that accomplishes so much and helps so many people affected by the conditions.
Each and every year in the middle week of the festival we have the Tartan Ribbon Benefit gig, and this year was a little bit special. David O Doherty, Jarred Christmas, The Blanks, Trevor Noah and Hal Cruttenden all donated their time and took to the stage to entertain a sold out audience in the Pleasance Grand - all hosted by long term supporter (and all round legend) Andre Vincent.
With live stand up, behind the scenes interviews and a bundle of laughs all here for your entertainment, why not visit laffoffstigma.com to find out more about Waverley Care.

13. Ian D. Montfort with Tom Stade - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast 2012
Sometimes you can't explain things with science. Sometimes things are unbelievable. Sometimes, just sometimes we are lucky enough to meet more than just a man. Today, you can meet a man that is more than just a man.
Ian D. Montfort is the world's leading celebrity medium, and we are blessed with the grace of his time as he shares his ability with not only you, but with a true believer. Tom Stade was selected to have a private sitting with Ian to try to contact the significant celebrities in his life, and the results are incredible. Literally.

11. Michael Mittermeier and Trevor Noah - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast 2012
The Pleasance has worked with hundreds if not thousands of comedians over the last 25 years, from Peter Kay to Stephen Fry; Jo Brand to David Baddiel; Ross Noble to Frankie Boyle; Steve Coogan to Russell Brand....the list is almost endless.
In this Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast you're about to meet two more outstanding comedians who are superstars in their own countries, yet relatively unknown in the UK.
Germany's Michael Mittermeier and Trevor Noah from South Africa have been brought to the Pleasance by Eddie Izzard as they share his ambitions to take comedy across the globe and across language. Michael performs in English as his third language whilst Trevor explores the way in which comedy is universal regardless of the crowd he is in front of.

09. Adam Kay with Simon Evans - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast
The word genius is banded about too often when describing comedians.
Adam Kay is a very talented pianist and particularly astute comedy writer and solo star of Amateur Transplants: Bum Notes at the Pleasance this year. In this podcast Adam takes control and has a wonderful chat with Simon Evans.
Both gifted comedians are avid Tweeters which quickly becomes the focus conversation, before hitting hard subjects such as Chinese desserts, Boris Johnson and the Olympics impact on Britain.
We're off to a great start with a clip from Adam's show, and we wouldn't leave Simon's Friendly Fire out so there's his take on American politics in there for good measure. Shaun Keaveny returns to the podcast briefly to take part in the Pleasance Alternative Olympics and there's even a clip of Rhod Gilbert in there.
Genius.

We have given full control of the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast to Seann Walsh who is joined by Elis James. Their conversation takes us all over the place; Scarface, movie posters, Stewart Lee, hygein issues and everyone’s favourite Fringe topic flyer-ers.
Seann is back in Edinburgh with his new show Seann to be Wild here at the Pleasance. While Elis is making a return in new show Speaking as a Mother.

07. Cariad Lloyd with Abandoman - Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast
Improv! Is it harder to sit down for hours upon hours and craft a well written comedy show, or is it harder to stand in front of a room of strangers with nothing in the bag and create something entirely new every single day?
Cariad Lloyd takes over the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast to discuss the finer points of improvisation with Rob Broderick, the wordsmith genius behind Abandoman. Both comedians have passionate views on what makes a good show and share anecdotes of their successes and failures on stage.
Fresh from touring with Ed Sheeran Abandoman have spent years fine tuning the method into the Irish hip-hop rap that now seem effortless whilst Cariad spends continues to break the mould with her improv characters, some of which you can hear in this podcast. Both comedians regularly appear in Monkey Toast at the Pleasance Dome.

Not only do the fantastic Horne Section give us a spectacular finale to proceedings, but messrs Carl Donnelly and Al Pitcher share the most inappropriate stories about Liam Gallagher, self love and airplanes they can muster.
From New Zealand to drug dealers, Alicia Keys to the Final Countdown, this is a podcast not to be missed.

05. Shaun Keaveny - 'The Forty Year Old Edinburgh Virgin' with Marcel Lucont, Pete Firman and The Blanks.
Shaun Keaveny makes another notch in his Edinburgh bedpost, as he makes his fourth appearance at The Pleasance in 40 Year Old Edinburgh Virgin. We have another scorcher of a show for you today as he continues to bring you the best of the Edinburgh Fringe. Shaun has invited another couple of the biggest acts of the festival to join him on his sofa and is also joined by a fantastic musical group to close out the show. Plus a very special guest makes a surprise appearance.
Marcel Lucont has been gracing Edinburgh with his presence for the last few years and today we are lucky enough to be in his company. Marcel, with glass of wine in hand, philosophises on the French, the British and the Scottish with Shaun.
To everybody’s surprise and delight the one and only Barry Cryer was in the audience. This legend of comedy was generous enough to come up on stage and tell us a joke. Blending comedy and magic Pete Firman is one of the most popular acts in Edinburgh. On the show we learn about Pete’s inspirations as well as when magic gets misinterpreted. We are very lucky to be able to close the show with the wonderful sound of the Blanks (Ted’s band from Scrubs).

04. Shaun Keaveny - 'The Forty Year Old Edinburgh Virgin' with Andrew Maxwell Sara Pascoe and La Poule Plombee.
Back for his third ever stint on the boards, Shaun Keaveny returns to the podcast bringing yet another killer line up to your ears for the commute to work. If you can't be in Edinburgh for the Festival Fringe the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast will endeavour to bring you the best, funniest and most interesting characters and comedians in the city.
This podcast certainly manages that, Sara Pascoe joins Shaun on the Jonathon Ross style sofa to tell a packed room what she's been up to in the last year - how Edinburgh bookends her entire year plus her experiences of being on In The Loop and the incredible Twenty Twelve series.
Bombasting his way on the show for his millionth Edinburgh Festival - Andrew Maxwell lights up the room with tales of conspiracy, chimpanzees and blowing up a bus. Standard really.
To close the show, La Poule Plombee dazzles us with a stunning performance comparing her native tongue with slightly more clumsy English language.

03. Shaun Keaveny - 'The Forty Year Old Edinburgh Virgin' with Sean Hughes, Lloyd Langford and Abandoman.
He's good - he's very good - Shaun Keaveny hosts the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast live from the Pleasance Dome in Edinburgh as part of his first ever stage appearances - The Forty Year Old Edinburgh Virgin.
On today's podcast you're going to fall in love with at least two men. Three if you count Shaun but that seems like cheating. Sean Hughes hasn't been at the Edinburgh Festival fringe for five years but has returned to immediate acclaim with his new show at the Pleasance, Life Becomes Noises. Although it covers some sober subjects it has already become the talk of the town and Shaun finds out all the details as well as heading back into the early nineties to recap the golden days of rock and roll comedy.
Lloyd Langford is your other beau of the podcast - a charmer and just the chap to try and be friends with on Facebook - otherwise he might seek you out, put you on a big screen and insult you in front of a paying audience. Lloyd also has links with Never Mind the Buzzcocks and tells Shaun about the time he spent writing for the show as well as adopting an unknown Simon Amstell.
To play us out, and indeed to open the show, the world famous Irish rappers Abandoman take the stage to improvise their way to comedy gold - a fantastic line up on the best comedy festival podcast out there.

02. Shaun Keaveny - 'The Forty Year Old Edinburgh Virgin' with Sarah Kendall and Mark Watson
In the first of a mini-series of five, Shaun Keaveny the 40 Year Old Edinburgh Virgin hosts a live show from the Ace Dome at the Pleasance. All this week the podcast will feature Shaun's choice of comedians from the fringe as he not only puts his toe in the city's water but dives head first into the hedonism, entertainment music and comedy from the largest arts festival in the world.
On this show, Shaun is joined by Sarah Kendall for a chat about kids, The Boss and the unknown deviancy stored in the back of Keaveny's mind. Mark Watson is the comedian of choice for the second half of this live show with stories from his Edinborolympics plans - though is this podcast the straw that breaks the camel's back?
Will Mark still be as nice at the end of the show? Luckily we also hear from Axis of Awesome who not only introduce Sarah and Mark musically but also close the show with another hilarious track from their Edinburgh show.

Special Appearance - Eddie Izzard
Eddie Izzard visited the Pleasance Courtyard today to promote two comedy shows that he is supporting at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Trevor Noah and Michael Mittermeier came to Izzard's attention whilst travelling across the globe investigating what "national humour" and whether he can succeed in drawing international audiences in their home countries.
Trevor and Michael are of the same mindset and are appearing at the Pleasance with Eddie's backing as a result.
You can see 'Trevor Noah: The Racist' in the Pleasance Courtyard every night at 19.15, and 'Michael Mittermeier: A German on Safari' at 21.30.
01. Axis of Awesome, Dead Cat Bounce, Pleasance Press Launch
There have been many band rivals throughout history – Oasis v Blur, Tupac v The Notorious B.I.G. and the Justin Bieber v the Rest of the World – but nowhere has such a rivalry been so fierce, so personal than right here on the Pleasance Comedy Festival Podcast.
The Axis of Awesome have made the Pleasance their home for 2012 and host the first podcast of the festival, but rather than soaking up the culture or exploring the fine city of Edinburgh, the Axis invited rock band Dead Cat Bounce onto the show to further stoke the flames of the longest running feud between comedy bands EVER.
A cracking podcast to get us off to a flying start, plus the Axis send Lee from the band down to the Pleasance press launch for a sneak previews and some backstage interviews from the talented performers making up the programme this year. You’ll hear clips from Horrible Histories, Rhys Darby, Othello The Remix, Piff the Magic Dragon, The Two Worlds of Charlie F and some of the staff who make the Pleasance the best venue on the fringe.
