Frequently asked questions for our Edinburgh venues.

Making your visit safe and enjoyable

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming you back to the Pleasance in Edinburgh this August. Below you can find some further information on what to expect when you arrive and a few tips for making your time with us as enjoyable as possible.

 

  • Book in advance

We encourage you to book in advance to avoid disappointment, however if you wish to book a ticket on the spot you can easily do so on the Pleasance website or by phone on 0131 556 6550 (13:00 - 20:00 Monday, 10:00 - 20:00 Tuesday - Sunday). We also have a limited in-person Box Office service at the Pleasance Courtyard's Info Shed. Unfortunately we are unable to offer an in-person service at Pleasance at EICC.

 

  • Contactless ticketing

Your ticket confirmation email will include your booking details and a QR code. You’ll be asked to present this when you arrive at the venue and it will be scanned by our Front of House team before the show. You can present this on a mobile device or bring a print out. All ticketing is contactless.

 

  • Check In

We’ll also ask you to check in when you first arrive at the venue, with details on how to do this available at the venue entrance.

 

  • Face coverings

You will be required to wear a face covering in all indoor spaces. If you are exempt, please just let us know when you arrive. Our team will be wearing masks at all times, but we can assure you that we’re smiling underneath! Hand sanitation stations will be available for use when you first arrive and throughout the venue. Each performance space is fully cleaned between shows.

 

  • Seating

Pleasance Courtyard: Seating is sold in groups due to social distancing. If larger group sizes are unavailable you may purchase multiple smaller groups to make up your required numbers.

Pleasance at EICC: Seating is sold in 1 and 2 seat groups. For larger group sizes, you may purchase multiple smaller groups to make up your required numbers.

 

  • Distancing

Our performance spaces have been designed to ensure that distancing is maintained between all bookings. Tickets are unallocated, however our Front of House team will sit you in a specific location appropriate to your group size. On some occasions, larger groups may be required to sit across multiple tables or rows. A simple one way system will be in operation in our performance spaces.

 

  • Arrival

Pleasance Courtyard: Doors will open approximately 10 minutes before the performance time. To minimise queuing at the venue, we recommend arriving no earlier than 20 minutes before the performance.

 

Pleasance at EICC: Doors will open approximately 30 minutes before the performance time. To minimise queuing at the venue, we recommend arriving no earlier than this time.

 

Please allow yourself time to find the venue and factor in any travel issues that may affect your journey.

 

  • Covid-19 Refunds and Exchanges

If you are displaying any coronavirus symptoms or are required to self-isolate, please do not attend. Simply email [email protected] as soon as possible and we will be happy to refund your booking, or else exchange your ticket for a later date. Unfortunately we cannot refund any booking fees, as these cover the cost of processing the initial order. Refunds and exchanges are not offered in other scenarios.

 

  • Check your venue

This year we are hosting performances across 4 sites simultaneously - the Pleasance Courtyard and Pleasance at EICC in Edinburgh, Pleasance Islington in London and Online. Double check to make sure you’re heading to the correct location. If travelling by public transport, we recommend you follow all national guidelines on distancing.

 

  • Dress appropriately

If you are coming to enjoy a show in the Rear Courtyard performance space, this is a covered outdoor venue and so please dress appropriately. Come rain or shine, the show will go on!

 

  • Enjoy a drink

An at-seat bar service will be available at both sites:

 

Pleasance Courtyard: A bar service is available during all performances in the Rear Courtyard and a ‘grab and go’ service will be available to Cabaret Bar audiences before the show. You can soak up the atmosphere before and after your show at the Front Courtyard bar - with delicious food trucks and a great selection of drinks.

  

Pleasance at EICC: A bar service will be available for all shows in our performance spaces. Simply place your order online here and collect your refreshments from the bar collection point. QR codes for the ordering service will also be available throughout the venue.

 

  • Access Requirements

  • Cashless site

We are unable to accept cash at the venue, but payment can be made through all major cards. 

 

  • Check the guidance

We recommend familiarising yourself with the latest Scottish Government coronavirus guidance before travelling to the venue, which can be found here.
