To inspire, develop and empower!
Self-producing: Where do I begin?
For theatre artists who identify as female interested in learning the first steps in how to self-produce.
Run by women, for women, this is an introduction for artists, writers, directors and theatre makers into the world of self-producing. The workshop will explore the different venues and opportunities available in London alongside grappling with some of the big questions - how to market, budget and fundraise, develop audiences, the dos and don'ts of pitching to venues and managing workloads.
Run by Ellie Simpson (Pleasance Theatre, Idle Motion), Grace Chapman (The Space, NOVAE theatre) and Helen Matravers (New Diorama, Cloakroom Theatre) you will receive an insight into the responsibilities of producing theatre, practical approaches for bringing together and managing a production as well as being in an open platform to ask questions and discuss your own projects. It will also provide you with the chance to connect with three leading London theatre venues and receive guidance on the variety of opportunities out there.
Ultimately we want to demystify the term “producing” and aim for you leave inspired and empowered to make those first steps in self-producing your own work.
