In a newly created position, the Pleasance Theatre Trust aims to recruit a Venue Technician to play a key role in a small, extremely busy technical department. Working alongside a two person team, comprising of the Production Manager and an existing Venue Technician, the newly appointed Technician will ensure the smooth, safe running of the Pleasance’s London venue and its three theatre spaces - the Mainhouse, StageSpace and Downstairs.

 

They will provide first class technical support to visiting companies, ensuring that their requirements are catered for, schedules are maintained and safe working practices are adhered to at all times. As technically adept as they are personable, the Venue Technician will go above and beyond to exceed the visiting company’s expectations. Companies range from established artists through to newcomers.

 

Through the diligent use of schedules, documentation and a hands-on approach, the Technician will ensure that the premises and those working within it are operating in a fashion that is fit for purpose.

 

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of technical practices and be able to turn their hand to most challenges whilst remain safety conscious at all times.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the candidate will regularly be required to speak, hear and have good or corrected vision. This role is very active and requires standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and working at height. The candidate will frequently lift and move items over 25kg.

 

As this is a newly created position, it will be subject to an initial 6 month fixed term contract followed by a review, at which point opportunities to move onto a permanent contract will be explored.
