Reading Week: Stalemate & The Fruit of Our Labour

7th Jun 2019

StageSpace - Pleasance London

6:45pm, 8pm

6:45pm Stalemate by Rachel Causer

'I’d give anything to go back to before, we were perfect before.’ ‘No one was looking before.’ Exploring what love and trust mean in the hyper-digital age, Stalemate is a darkly comic look at one couple’s reliance on technology to fix the cracks in their relationship.

8pm, The Fruit of Our Labour by Cameron Corcoran

Labour MP for Bedford, Arthur Holmewood, faces personal and political turmoil when his affair with a BBC Weather-girl makes the news. Whilst trying to keep the relationship with his son intact, Arthur works with the Labour Head of Communications to keep Labour out of the hands of Jeremy Corbyn.

Reading Week connects playwrights and audiences, giving writers the opportunity to hear their scripts brought to life in a rehearsed reading and gain valuable feedback from both audiences and an industry panel.

Join us at Pleasance Islington for this festival of new plays powered by Pleasance Futures, with a double bill of bold, exciting and innovative new writing each evening.

£5 for one Reading, £7 for a Double Bill, £24 for all performances.
