Reading Week: Where We Are? & The Fountain

5th Jun 2019

StageSpace - Pleasance London

6:45pm, 8:15pm

6:45pm, Where We Are? by Ian Salmon

We spend so long passing in small orbits, never quite touching, never really meeting, never fully knowing each other, never entirely sure whether this is the one. Sometimes it takes forever to be where you’re supposed to be. Two people; one conversation about the inevitable.

8:15pm, The Fountain by Ryan Watson

Set against the backdrop of major moments in Sydney’s gay rights movement, The Fountain is an epic, intimate play set over three time periods in one apartment. Behind the brick walls and double glazed windows, the far reach of the conservative views of a misogynistic country can be felt. A funny, sometimes dramatic look at who we are and how we got here.

Reading Week connects playwrights and audiences, giving writers the opportunity to hear their scripts brought to life in a rehearsed reading and gain valuable feedback from both audiences and an industry panel.

Join us at Pleasance Islington for this festival of new plays powered by Pleasance Futures, with a double bill of bold, exciting and innovative new writing each evening.

£5 for one Reading, £7 for a Double Bill, £24 for all performances.
