It’s
Friday night. Time to hit the town. Go out out. Grab everything the
night has to offer. But beneath the beats and bravado, something darker
is brewing. Dodgy dealers, dodgier workmates, and local hard nuts
collide in a volatile cocktail of excess, aggression and misplaced
ambition. Part gig, part theatre, Lash follows Sonny on a hilarious,
heartbreaking, and fiercely lyrical trip through a youth wasted in more
ways than one.
★★★★★ 'This hugely engaging solo monologue set to
the pulsating beats of dance music captivates the audience from the very
start, while Stokes’ writing keeps us guessing as to what might be
coming next' Theatre Weekly
Recognised by the British
Library as a Culturally Important Playwright of the 21st century,
multi-award-winning writer Philip Stokes (Heroin(e) for
Breakfast, Jesus, Jane, Mother and Me and Shellshocked) has
collaborated with Olivier, Tony, and Emmy Award-winning producer
Richard Jordan for more than 16 years. Together they have taken his
plays across the globe. Both productions star Jack Stokes, one of
the UK’s most exciting young actors, who brings ferocious energy and
emotional precision to these uncompromising and urgent stories of men
confronting the darker forces shaping their lives today.
Part of
the Richard Jordan Productions and playwright Philip Stokes Main House
Takeover, This Is Not America is followed by LASH. See
either show individually, or experience both in one exhilarating evening
