Winner of the overall Best Comedy Award at the Adelaide Fringe 2024, Mel McGlensey is Motorboat!

Part woman. Part boat. Full clown.

Batten down the hatches and seal your porthole! It’s time for the silliest, most outrageous, naughty and nautical show ever made about someone who is part boat, part woman... and full clown. Come with Motorboat on a sea voyage of self-discovery and silliness.

Directed by award-winning theatre maker, physical comedian, cabaret chanteuse and director Sharney Nougar (Two Little Dickheads, Smashed Arvo). With design consultation by Douglas Wilson. Sound design by Max Paton.

Melissa McGlensey
is a Melbourne-based comedian, writer and producer. Though originally from the USA, she made Australia her home in 2016 and has never looked back. She is a writer and contributor to The Onion and Reductress, and her writing has also been published in The Betoota Advocate, The Hard Times, The Huffington Post and more.

McGlensey has studied and performed comedy at top schools all over the world including at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (UCB) in LA and New York and The Second City in Chicago. Here in Melbourne, she is an ensemble member of The Big HooHaa, Soothplayers: Completely Improvised Shakespeare, The Improv Conspiracy and Completely Improvised Survivor, which she also co-created and directs. She's also the creator, co-host and producer of THROWBACK: A Comedy Talent Show, a unique lineup show that debuted at Melbourne Fringe 2023.

Melissa recently attended the famous École Philippe Gaulier in France where the titular bit of Motorboat was conceived and first performed. Her work often forefronts ideas about politics, satire, body positivity, improvisation and feminism.
