This year marks Pleasance’s first year of Bridges Festival, a mentoring and creative support programme for new writing. The programme means that Pleasance can meaningfully develop the work of four of the best writers from Pleasance Scratch Nights. We have chosen 4 writers to help develop their 10-15min excerpts into 45mins - 1hr productions or another piece of their choosing.

How to Exorcise a Demon Twink

Sure, Edgar and Deacon have been besties their whole lives, but their friendship is quickly unraveling.

Okay, so, basically, Edgar is not gay anymore and Deacon… Well, Deacon is possessed by a vicious demon from hell. So, yeah. Things are, like, a little complicated.

But tonight, in a forsaken toilet of Heaven nightclub, Edgar will enact a desperate plan to exorcise hell from Deacon before he’s consumed completely. Yet as the ritual spirals out of his hands and the lines between fiction and reality, between past and present, and between love and torture start to blur, the two friends will discover that a demon can take many shapes — and they are, like, not super ready to deal with any of them.

How to Exorcise a Demon Twink is a horror comedy about love, truth, and the demons that possess the two.

Daniel Preciado is a writer, actor, and director from Panama City, Panama who currently lives in London. His previous play, The Room of Beautiful Things (La Habitación de Cosas Hermosas), was the finalist for the Panamanian national playwriting prize.
