SHARP EDGES, after Sophocles’ Electra, is the story of a young woman on the precipice. As Ellie prepares for the biggest moment of her life, she will be forced to face the truth about her past, her family- and herself. But Ellie’s motivations are not what they seem, and as she hurtles towards her reckoning, her struggle interrogates the possibility and meaning of justice in an increasingly violent world.
SHARP EDGES is a one-woman show that reimagines a Greek tragedy - of a young woman on a tightrope, deciding whether she can resist perpetuating her family’s cycle of violence or not - to explore themes of justice, grief and familial violence against women & girls through a contemporary lens.
This play is for every child who’s had to become a fighter. For every woman still living with the aftershocks. For anyone asking if we can ever choose a different path.

Futures Festival is a Pay What You Can Event, with 100% of the box office going directly towards supporting the artists and the work you see on stage. We invite you to consider what you might typically spend on a show, and choose the highest tier you feel comfortable with - every pound helps us champion new voices and bold ideas.
Each year Pleasance commits to supporting six London based theatre makers/writers for a two year residency as our Associate Artists, providing them with the transformative tools to take their work and craft to the next level. We asked them to curate a festival based around themes of their choosing. Futures Festival is the result!
Futures Festival showcases developing productions from leading independent performance makers and companies.
This show is part of Week 3, The Future is Two presented by The Project People.
