A glitchy fever dream of algorithmic seduction and cyber paranoia! Set against the backdrop of a digital dystopia, 2084: Electric Dreams & Cyber Screams brings drag, burlesque and provocative theatrical performances to examine how AI & Technology reshapes the way we live, love and connect.
Let data dance with desire.
Let boundaries between human and machine grow uncertain.
Allow yourself to laugh at your cyber fantasies.
Playful, political, and unapologetically messy, the performance asks what freedom looks like when even our fantasies are tracked, coded, and sold.
Brought to you by Karma Obskura & Beta Von Glitch . Full cast to be announced soon.
Accessibility notes:
The show is fully captioned.
Audiences who need to step out during the show are free to do so and can come back when needed.
Futures Festival is a Pay What You Can Event, with 100% of the box office going directly towards supporting the artists and the work you see on stage. We invite you to consider what you might typically spend on a show, and choose the highest tier you feel comfortable with - every pound helps us champion new voices and bold ideas.
Each year Pleasance commits to supporting six London based theatre makers/writers for a two year residency as our Associate Artists, providing them with the transformative tools to take their work and craft to the next level. We asked them to curate a festival based around themes of their choosing. Futures Festival is the result!
Futures Festival showcases developing productions from leading independent performance makers and companies.
This show is part of Week 1, The Future Is Digital presented by Worklight Theatre.
A week of shows confronting the impact of AI on art, privacy, and democracy. Artists will explore themes of technology, authenticity, community, and what it means to be human in a rapidly shifting digital age.
